What types of activities do you think this garment would be
good for? Cycling, running
Comments on fit & style: I purchased the large size Quest vest, figuring
I would wear it over some sort of fleece top that kept me warm, while the vest
would protect my chest from the cold effects of wind. The arm holes are fitted
well…occasionally these can be cut too small under the arm. The length
of the vest is appropriate for my 5’9” 165 lb frame. There is a
rear pocket to stash some gels or a couple of dollars. The styling is sharp
with a mostly red body and white accents. In my opinion the only feature this
vest is missing is some front pockets.
Comments on fabric: Most people buy a vest like this for cooler days when wind cutting through your torso makes you really uncomfortable. With that said, a wind breaking vest can be very stiff and very noisy when you are training. Not so with the Quest vest. The nylon that the vest is constructed from is very soft and virtually noiseless during motion. The back panel is mesh, which allows some body heat to escape so you do not overheat. The zipper is also constructed well with a nice wind blocker flap behind it helping it keep the wind out.
Summary: This vest is appropriate for cooler training days of cycling or running when wind chill is a factor in your comfort. If the day warms up and you decide you no longer wish to wear the vest, it rolls up nice and tight to stuff into a pocket. It does a nice job keeping the wind out and keeping heat in. The back mesh panel helps some heat escape so that you do not overheat. It fits well when worn over a light fleece top of a winter cycling jersey. The styling is eye catching, and the material is very soft, and quiet, unlike some other nylons that make a lot of noise during motion. The only feature I feeling is missing is some front pockets. Otherwise this is a fine attractive and functional garment.
Comments on Fit/Style: Very Comfortable, Looks Good.
Comments on Fabric: Nice and light. A good summer/spring vest. Handled the wind
and light rain very well.
Overall: A great lightweight cycling vest. Ideally suited to warmer and windy
conditions. Can also handle light rain.
A handy zip pocket, great for food, keys and money for your coffee stop.
What types of activities do you think this garment would be good for? Running, cycling cross- country skiing, casual wear.
Comments on fabric: Front of vest stops wind well, yet still breathes. The back mesh allows for optimal cooling.
Comments on fit/style: This vest works well over many base layers. I find it invaluable for running, cycling and XC skiing. It easily rolls up to be placed in the pocket of a cycling jersey or jacket. One of my most important pieces of clothing.
Overall: The Quest Vest is a versatile and essential piece of clothing for
the endurance athlete. It can be used in all seasons and weather conditions.
Great for wearing under short or long sleeves. It rolls up easily to be carried
in jersey pocket.
I use my vest so often, that I have more than one. It have one with me most
training days throughout the year. The Quest Vest is a must in your race bag,
and travel bag.
